Rocks, Gems & Staking

Earn Rocks, Gems and more when you use the REBL App.

Rocks

Earn Rocks for using the REBL app. They're your fuel for liking others content.

When signing up to REBL, you start with a 50,000 Rock supply. These Rocks can be gifted to posts and comments made on posts within the REBL app. The primary purpose of the Rocks is to be gifted to other users on the REBL Network to show appreciation for their content. This gifting system acts similar to other social media platforms and this is used as the ‘like’ function.

A maximum quantity of Rocks that one user can hold at one time is 50,000. Rocks are generated and added to a user's wallet based on activity throughout the REBL Network.

The more active a user is, the more rocks that will be replenished daily into their wallet. Members can gift up to 2,000 Rocks to a single post with a daily cap set at 1,000 Rocks gifted to a post in a single day.

For example for a user to gift the maximum amount of Rocks to another users post, they can gift 1000 right away, and then 24 hours later they can gift that post another 1000, but since the max amount of Rocks that can be gifted per post is 2000, that user will not be able to gift that post any more Rocks.

Gems

Earn Gems when other members like your content on REBL. You can spend or stake your Gems.

When someone gifts Rocks to a particular post or comment, the receiver of the Rocks receives that quantity of Gems, but not in Rocks, they receive Gems. In simpler terms, Rocks get converted to Gems once the Rocks are gifted. These Gems can be used to spend on digital assets in the app or staked to earn Diamond tokens.

GEM Staking

GEM Staking is essentially a final element of engagement-to-value conversion of the REBL economy. We allow Gems to be earned in place of likes, collected, and stored in the user’s wallet. Gems are not a crypto token. They can be likened to a video game coin. The benefit of that is that they don’t require wallet ownership, any understanding of web3, their transfer is instantaneous and mobile-friendly.

The drawbacks are that they are not immutable and exchangeable outside of the REBL ecosystem. That’s where Diamonds come in.

To convert Gems to Diamonds, you need to stake them into our staking pool. There is an internal formula that governs the distribution of Diamonds. To avoid any issues with the system being prone to exploitation, this formula is stored-off chain.

[We will go into more details on how other app developers can plug into the REBL ecosystem and use various on- and off-chain elements of the REBL protocol in the subsequent articles that specifically go over the protocol.]

Our first staking pool stakes Gems against the performance of the REBL app itself. The better the overall performance of REBL, the better Diamond rewards are distributed to the stakers.
